I had the pleasure of working alongside Montana at a small, fast-moving startup where she led HR while I led the marketing team. She is one of those rare people who brings both deep empathy and real operational strength to an organization.

Montana is incredibly mission-driven and genuinely cares about people. She created an environment where team members felt safe, supported, and heard, even during difficult or messy moments that naturally come with startup life. She never hesitated to roll up her sleeves and jump in wherever needed, whether the work was strategic, emotional, or purely tactical.

What I especially appreciated was her ability to act as both a systems thinker and a change agent. She consistently pushed leadership to live the values we talked about publicly, while also putting thoughtful processes and structures in place that made life easier for both leadership and staff.

Any organization or founder would be lucky to work with Montana. She leads with integrity, compassion, and action.

Montana Burns, a dear friend and an exceptional HR professional. From the very beginning of our collaboration, Montana impressed me with her profound knowledge of the HR industry and her unwavering commitment to fostering a positive environment for all.

Her thoughtfulness and kindness were evident in every interaction, whether she was assisting employees with their concerns or collaborating with cross-functional departments on initiatives to enhance our work environment. Montana possesses a unique ability to listen and understand the needs of others, making her not only a trusted colleague but also a cherished friend.

Her expertise in HR practices, combined with her compassionate approach, has made a lasting impact on our team and me as a payroll professional. I am grateful for the opportunity to have worked alongside Montana and have no doubt that she will continue to excel and inspire others as she embarks on this next journey.

I took a position on a shift that had been underachieving and battling prolonged employee turnover. Montana helped me create a culture of mutual respect and shared goals that continues there even after we both moved on.

She understands the value of catering to individual strengths and common ideals. She taught me interview techniques to find strong, qualified team members and was irreplaceable in developing a productive and respectful environment. We were able to retain and improve the talent we had while complimenting it with new and different pieces.

She understands the importance of recognition and the value of employee engagement and retention. It didn't take long before the shift was the most cohesive and productive in the shop, even with fewer team members. We couldn't have done it without her guidance and influence.

She did all of that while also dragging our policies and procedures out of the past and creating and filling roles with talent all throughout the shop. She navigated a time of rapid growth and expansion with confidence and grace.
